Terms of Use
Version 2026-10-31
Use PrepBot for studying
PrepBot is a study coach. By using it, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use PrepBot.
What you won't do
You won't use PrepBot to:
- Abuse, insult, harass, or threaten the tutor or anyone else, including with swearing or name-calling aimed at someone.
- Post hateful, bigoted, or discriminatory content or slurs about any person or group, for example because of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, caste, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.
- Plan, carry out, or get help with anything illegal or seriously harmful.
- Post sexually explicit content, or any sexual content involving minors.
- Threaten, glorify, or encourage violence against real people or groups.
Studying difficult subjects is fine
You can study subjects like history, law, medicine, or security, including their dark or offensive parts, and quote material in order to discuss it. Frustration that isn't aimed at anyone (“ugh, I got that wrong again”) is fine too.
Every message is checked
Each message you send is checked automatically before the tutor's answer is shown. The check runs on your own API key, using Claude Haiku (or GPT-4o mini if you use an OpenAI model), and costs a small fraction of a cent per message.
What happens if you break these terms
- The session ends immediately, and the message counts as a strike.
- The message, the kind of violation, and the time are stored with your account so the decision can be reviewed. Apart from that and sessions you choose to save, your conversations stay on your device.
- After 3 strikes, your access to PrepBot is suspended.
- Automatic checks can make mistakes. If you think a strike was wrong, contact the person who invited you to the beta; strikes can be reviewed and cleared.
Your responsibilities
- The tutor can be wrong. PrepBot is not a substitute for your instructor, course, or textbook.
- You're responsible for your own API keys and what they cost.
Changes
These terms may change. When they do, you'll be asked to accept the new version before you continue.
